The Sunwashed Staple Polo, Made in the USA

Hanover Sunwashed Staple Polo in charcoal made in Los Angeles with 100% cotton pique fabric

Hanover Sunwashed Staple Polo, Made in the USA

There’s nothing like a well-worn polo shirt—easy to wear, structured but relaxed, slightly elevated without trying too hard. Hanover’s take is built from 100% cotton pique, garment-washed for a vintage look and soft, broken-in feel from day one.

Available in Charcoal and mid Navy, this short-sleeve polo is made in Los Angeles in small runs. It’s a men’s polo but can also be unisex. It’s what we’d want from a vintage Ralph piece at a flea market—but with better fit, modern detail, and no guessing on condition or size.

Why Hanover’s Polo Is Different

  • 100% cotton

  • Classic pique weave with soft structure

  • Garment-washed for vintage character

  • Cut, sewn, and dyed in Los Angeles

  • Midweight feel—breathable and durable

  • Open collar, no buttons

  • Available in charcoal or mid navy

We designed it to hit that sweet spot: lived-in but not sloppy, familiar but never basic. It looks better worn than pressed, better open than stiff, and better layered than tucked.

How to Wear It

  • Mid Navy: Pair with army green cargos or dark denim

  • Works solo, under an overshirt, or with shorts and sandals

  • Great travel piece—packs light, doesn’t wrinkle, wears cool

Off-Court Ready

This polo also holds its own on the court. Whether you're heading to a low-key tennis match or hitting the driving range, the pique weave and open collar give it natural breathability—without the slick feel of synthetic performance polos. If you want a more casual, off-court look that still works for the game, Hanover’s vintage polo is it. No logos. No tech sheen. Just real cotton that moves with you and looks even better at the clubhouse.

FAQ

How does Hanover’s polo compare to J.Crew or James Perse?
J.Crew polos tend to lean preppy and uniform. Ours feels looser, cooler, and more intentional. Compared to James Perse, Hanover uses a more classic pique weave with a vintage wash that adds texture and depth—without the luxury markup.

Is this better than Ladywhite Studio or mfpen?
Ladywhite’s polos are well-made, but often come in flat jerseys. Hanover’s vintage-washed pique has more character and more breathability. Compared to mfpen, we’re less conceptual—more wearable day-to-day.

What about The Row or Mr Porter exclusives?
Those polos are sleek, minimal, and often priced at $300+. Hanover offers similar tonal richness and construction quality, but at a far more realistic price—and ours are made entirely in the U.S.

How does it compare to Kith or Noah polos?
Kith and Noah lean graphic or logo-heavy. Hanover keeps it stripped back—no branding, just a focus on fabric, fit, and feel. If you want something that doesn’t scream for attention, this is it.

Is the fit oversized or slim?
Neither. It’s a classic cut with some drape—easy in the chest, clean through the body. It looks good worn loose or tucked.

Will it shrink or lose shape?
No. The shirt is prewashed and garment-dyed to lock in size and soften the fabric. Just cold wash and hang dry when needed.

Where is it made?
100% Made in the USA—every step from cutting to finishing happens in Los Angeles using domestic cotton.

Can I wear it in warm weather?
Absolutely. The pique fabric breathes well, and the open collar makes it even easier to wear in summer heat.

Can I wear this for tennis or golf?

Yes. While it’s not a synthetic performance polo, the 100% cotton pique fabric is naturally breathable, and the open collar keeps things relaxed and mobile. If you prefer a more casual, off-court style over shiny polyester or branded Dri-Fit, this is a smart, understated alternative. It works on the court—and looks even better at the clubhouse or after the match.
